Covance Inc is a biopharmaceutical company that provides drug development and animal testing services to the pharmaceutical industry. The company was founded in 1987 in America as Chemistry Research Corporation by two chemists, Harlan Waksal and Dr. Paul Kleiner, who aimed to provide custom synthesized chemical compounds for scientists conducting research within academia and industry. Initially based in Princeton, New Jersey, the business grew steadily throughout the 80's and 90's by providing analysis services such as bioanalytical chemistry studies and preclinical toxicology. Since then, Covance has grown significantly with a presence in over 25 countries across five continents while expanding its service provision to span all aspects of clinical trial support from discovery through development and commercialization. In 2015 Covance became a wholly-owned subsidiary of LabCorp after being acquired for $6 billion dollars which represented one of the largest deals ever made within the biotech arena at that time.
