Constellation Brands, Inc.
Constellation Brands, Inc. is an international beverage alcohol company based in Victor, New York that produces and markets beer, wine and spirits with operations in the U.S., Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. It was founded in 1945 by Marvin Sands as Canandaigua Industries when he purchased some small wineries located around Canandaigua Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York. In 1972, it was acquired by Canandaigua Wine Company which went public two years later and changed its name to Constellation Brands due to its expanding business beyond wines. Through the following decades Constellation Brands acquired a variety of wine brands including Robert Mondavi in 2004 and Australian's BRL Hardy for US$1.5 billion four years later which resulted in changing their brand focus from low-end wines into super premium segments while simultaneously diversifying geographically with a presence across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Australasia regions by 2017.
