Citrix Systems Inc. is an American multinational software company founded in 1989 with headquarters based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They primarily specialize in virtualization, networking and cloud computing technologies and are listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker symbol “CTXS”. In 1993 they launched their flagship product WinFrame – a multi-user operating system that enabled Windows applications to run over networked computers. This was followed by Citrix MetaFrame which extended these capabilities even further by introducing scaleability features for larger networks worldwide. Later on, this technology was used as part of the early development stages of cloud computing solutions deployed today across many businesses globally including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
