Centurylink, Inc.
"CenturyLink, Inc., headquartered in Monroe, Louisiana, is an American telecommunications company founded in 1930 and a member of the S&P 500 index. It is the second-largest provider of fixed landline telephone services in the United States after AT&T and is considered a ""Baby Bell"" that resulted from the 1984 breakup of Ma Bell. The company also provides broadband Internet, VoIP phone services, dedicated hosting and data center services to residential and business customers. In its early years CenturyLink provided long-distance service within its regional states as proposed by state regulators across the country. In 2005 CenturyLink expanded into other regions through the acquisition of Qwest Communications International which was previously known as US West Communications. This gave CenturyLink increased market presence throughout Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Utah. Through subsequent acquisitions CenturyLink has entered additional markets such as New Mexico in 2008 and Nevada & Idaho in 2010; all providing their signature telecom products for consumers and businesses alike across multiple lines including voice communications systems (landline), digital TV services from DIRECTV transferred to CenturyLink’s Prism TV brand with options for bundled packages within home security/protection & automation products along with up to 1GB symmetrical speeds for internet access via fiber optics or VDSL2 technology."
