Butterball, LLC is an American food company specializing in turkey and other poultry related products. The company dates back to the early 1906 when the Illini Turkey Growers, a cooperative of turkey growers based in Illinois, began producing turkeys for further processing. Their first product was a special all-white turkey variety grown from eggs that were specially developed by one of their farmers. By 1969, Illini's managers had developed an entire line of fresh and frozen processed turkeys under the Butterball brand name. In 1991, the cooperative established Butterball LLC as a stand-alone business entity and soon after opened its own corporate offices and production facilities located in Garner, North Carolina. Today, Butterball continues to be a leader in the industry with its award-winning products being sold throughout the United States and Canada.
