Albany Medical Center
Albany Medical Center is a non-profit, 766-bed tertiary care center in Albany, New York. It is the only academic medical center in the region and serves as an independent teaching hospital for Albany Medical College. Established in 1849, it began as an 11-bed hospital; by 1900, its capacity had grown to 50 beds. As demand increased and new treatments became available, the hospital began to expand its services and facilities until it achieved its current size. In addition to providing high quality medical care and emergency services, Albany Medical Center is renowned for delivering advanced specialty and subspecialty care ranging from general surgery to kidney transplantation services. It has received numerous awards for excellence in patient care and satisfaction including a Magnet Recognition Program® designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center.
