Aaron's Inc. is a North American company that specializes in the sales and lease ownership of furniture, electronics, appliances, and home accessories. Founded in 1955 by R. Charles Loudermilk Sr., Aaron's began its business as a single store operation in Atlanta, Georgia under the name Aaron Rents. By 1982, Aaron's had grown to 154 stores and with their 1987 acquisition of their biggest rival Aarons Sales & Lease Ownership, the company changed its name to Aaron's Inc. In 1998 Aaron's expanded into Canada with the purchase of Premier Rentals Ltd., followed by the acquisition of U-CAN Stores Corporation in 2003 for 19 stores on both coasts of Japan. The company has consistently grown over the years through more than 2,200 company operated locations throughout Canada and United States as well as franchise agreements with over 200 independently owned stores spread among 46 states along with Guam, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
